There's now a Safe Haven board, for those who wanted it. If you can't deal with that board and can't be clean, don't bother that board. We will enforce that rule, and you have a million other places to post.
Also took off the organizations for the blind board for lack of use and move the 2 topics there to other boards.
Always looking for new board ideas. A few come to mind.
Thoughts?
Cooking/recipes
Travel
Was considering a sex board. If we do it, sHould it be separate from dating/relationships or combined as it is now?
Finally, we may start enforcing a minimum age of 13 on the site and related services. This is largely due to the Childrens Online Privacy Act here in the U.S. No decision has been reached on this yet.

I'm glad about the Safe Haven board, thanks Admins!

A recipes board is a good idea. However, how are you gonna enforce the under 13 rule? I mean, this is the internet. Curious and desperate kids who think theres any sort of sexual content that they want to see will make up some fake identity. Get real here. i was one of those (i was 12 when i wanted to sign up to this stupid forum that had to do with teen suicide and stuff) and you had to be 13, how hard is it to say your 13? Just pointing that out. The flip side to that, of course, is that you'll hve angry parents trying to shut down the zone, which definitely wouldnt be good. Peace everyone

I've gotta agree with nibblet17. I mean, I know some honest kids, but I also know some dishonest ones. And I have a friend on here who's under 13 and would sorely miss the zone. But I see how you should have an age limit, if it's the law. Ah well. We'll just see what happens. Oh and I like the idea of a recipe board, by the way.
Thanks!

Thanks so much admin. And just so it doesn't get taken down for lack of use, I'm going to post in there on a regular basis, even if I'm just talking to myself, lol. Anyway, thank you.
Wonderwoman, happily surprised.

Why in gods green earth would you want a sex board? And that would kinda tick some parents off if they found their kids using a website with explicit content. I gotta agree with Nibblet and Catlin. There are honest kids out there and all but there are kids who can get desperate these days and just "say" they're 13. I really don't want some kid who's under 13 comming in, then their parents finding out that the Zone BBS has sexual content and then watch this website get shut down. If there were a age limit, I'd say 18 or up. But again the fakers could come on here and you'd get the big mess. But I'm still confused though why would you want a sex board? Can't we put it in grafitti? Then theres the question as to who'd use it.

Just to clarify some things. The under 13 thing was a legal thing, which has very little to do with the content on the site, sex board, etc.
Just through a sex board out as a topic. As for parents, control your kids. Honestly, no parent would successfully get this site shut down for content, and we would ignore those wishes. Parents need to teach their kids what's right and wrong. The younger users on this site, or at least many of them, understand what's suitable for them.

Yeah some parents need to either do that or get some kind of parental filter up on their account on their ISP. I think you can filter out somethings but not alot.

I agree with Admin here. Parents should control their kids, and kids themselves, if they're honest, know what they should and shouldn't be doing. So like if they get on this site and get in trouble, I guess that's their problem, not the zone's. But I have to agree. A sex board? Um ... why is that necessary, especially since there's somethign in the original BBS chat?

I propose a board on the Paranormal so those who have had an experience or are interested in the paranormal can discuss their feelings ect without laughter derision or hassle from religious people.

Also a Cultural board where people from different backgrounds can learn from each other.

Ok, i can see this whole thing with parents not being responsible, but filters are an all-around bad idea, if you want the details on what filters actually block, go to www.teenwire.com. Here, you'll find an article describing all the important stuff that filters block out. However, kids are gonna do what they want; they want to be rebellious and try new things (believe me, I know!)

Gotta agree with Niblet. I mean, from what I've heard, filters and firewalls and the like don't do much useful. They just block the kids from getting into basically any site on the web, dont' let them download anything or do anything that the internet is used for. Obviously I'm exaggerating a bit, but here's what I think. If your kid is misusing the internet, then they are just too immature for it. And if they are misusing it, don't let them use it at all! But, alternately, if you can trust your kid, let them use it, but let them know that you're trusting them. That's pretty much the policy my parents and I have.

Yup. I know I visited sites when I was a teenager that said 18 and older, etc. If we set a minimum age for places, people would just change their age. and if we did a profanity filter, people will use other words. That's much of the reason why we don't like wasting our time on censorship.

Post 16 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 07-Nov-2004 20:08:03

Yup I agree.

Well I am not denying a sex board here... although I am not interested in it at all. Just if you see it and know what you are doing then ignore all sexual language containing posts.
